Engine bolt pattern question

Trying to get a consensus on this, hasn't been easy so I'm going to ask you guys this. I have been told that the Jeep's six cylinder motor uses a V8 bolt pattern and has since the middle 70's. So in other words in many cases where the transmission has the right input shaft you can literally bolt up an AMC V8. True or false?

I did a little looking and I can see where many of the V8 and straight six transmissions shared the same input shaft, but bolt patterns I don't know.

Re: Engine bolt pattern question

All "AMC" engines share the same bolt pattern. This does exclude engines like the 151-I4 (Iron Duke), 225-V6/350-V8 (Dauntless/Buick), 327 (???), and others. I'm not sure if the Daimler-Chrysler engines continued the AMC bolt pattern or not.

Re: Engine bolt pattern question

I figured it wouldn't bolt up with the oddballs. That's cool about the other ones though, someone checked on Advance Adapters and it said they all use the same bolt pattern, even the 4.0HO motors which I like.

Does anyone know what sensors if any the AW4 reads off of the motor?
