93 Suzuki vs 83 CJ5 Ouch!

Me and a buddy went hunting with our airguns today ( don't laugh, its 9mm and sounds like a 12 gauge ). Well the game was thin so we jumped in the CJ to go further up the mountain. I was driving about 3-5 mph around a left hand curve when a guy on a dirt bike comes around the corner at about 30 mph. I was able to stop but he wasn't so lucky. He hit front of the CJ5 bending the 1/4 steel tow bar mount and sheering of the bolt for the tow bar. His head bounced off the passenger side of my hood and took some shavings off the passenger side shackle. He ended up with a dislocated hip, shattered knee ( I could see his kneecap part through the large gash ) some torn ligaments, shattered front forks and several busted spokes. After about two hours time one Fire truck one Forestry Service truck, two CHP trucks we were sent on our way and the rider was headed to the hospital and to get a blood test for possible DUI. My cost will be a new bolt for the tow bar, a small dent on my hood and my "good" blanket that we wrapped the guy in. The front of the guys bike is toast and I think he will be walking with a limp for a real long time. The cops were cool and said it was totally his fault and the report will side with me.

Thanks,
Rob

Glad you and your friend are alright.
Too bad about the biker. My 4 boys grew up riding dirt bikes.

Tell me about this "airgun"? 9MM? Make and model?

I have several high end airguns most being made in Germany or England but the 9mm is made in South Korea imported by RWS and sold as a RWS Career. It uses a 3000 psi charge from a scuba tank and will shoot a 77 grain pellet at around 1,000 fps. Range is around 100 yards
shooting 1 inch groups at that distance. The company also makes a 45 caliber version and a lever action model in .177, .22, .25, and 9mm with the .22 and the 9mm being the ones to have. The real shock will be when you see the prices of these "BB guns".

Re: 93 Suzuki vs 83 CJ5 Ouch!

Sorry to hear about the accident. Even if nobody is hurt, they are a pain in the butt. I used to ride bikes--gave them up as cold, wet and dangerous. I fly airplanes now for my thrills--that and drive my CJ5!

I've handled RWS airguns. They are nice, but with the size of some of the critters in my area, I'll stick to the nitro burning stuff. Course, the airguns cause less problems with the locals in semi-populated areas!

It's all a state of mind, and if you don't mention the state of my mind, I'll be happy to overlook yours!
