How do you bend 1/4\" plate for rear corner guards?

I was wondering how I could bend some 1/4" steel plate to make some rear corner guards for my Scrambler. I want to make them not buy them. I would be willing to pay a shop to make the bends though. What type of shop would have a bender capable of making a radius to match the CJ rear corner? Does anyone know the radius in inches? I want to make corners that only cover the rear rocker area. They would be about 4-5"s tall and have a flat plate bottom that would go in toward the frame. Basically they would be the same as a 4x4 angle iron, but bent around the rear corner.

Here is a pic of a Scrambler with a similar setup:

Thanks,

they have to be rolled to get the corner then stuck in a break to get eh corner to go underneath.

any good sheetmetal shop SHOULD be able to do these things.

they need a roller and a break, and of course a light work load to help you out

Thanks Ozark...

I was going to make them out of 2 pieces. The side would be flat and rolled around the corner. The bottom would be flat and would be welded to the side piece where they intersect.

ahh I see, no breake needed then

itll take take a good sized roller for 1/4 inch, no hand powered stuff.

I have one at work and its rollers are aorund 16 feet long, 3 rollers, all hyd controlled, and one valve opens the end on the top roller to remove your bent piece, its an older machine but pretty large and permanent.
someone around you can do it, good luck!

i made my corners out of 10 gauge diamond plate.we dont have a roll at our shop that would handle them so i made a pattern of what i wanted and took them to another sheetmetal shop in town and they rolled them for me.i like the way they turned out.

I did mine with 1/4 inch diamond plate. weld one end. Heat with torch, clamp as much as possible . then pull out the BMFH. if you buddy can keep the heat on it, it is easy. not propane but oxy/acylene
