parts interchangeability....360, 258

I am working on my 360 swap again this weekend, and was just wondering what parts I can use off of my 258. the 360 I am putting in is a 1977, the 258 was a 1986. I am wondering about the alternator, power steering pump, and starter....these are all good parts off of the 258. will they bolt up and work without modification? thanks, Ben

Re: parts interchangeability....360, 258

Hey

I'm doing mostly the same thing this weekend. From what I can tell the PS pump is identical, so is the smog (if you are going to use it). The starter will boltup, but the starter on the 6 looks like it is a little smaller. I have heard that it works but will wear out sooner than a bonified 360 starter (no personal experience though). I have also heard that the alternator from the 6 will bolt up to the 360 brackets if you drill out one hole (again no personal experience). I have the accessories for both engines as I bought mine complete, but since the stuff on my 6 was mostly new, I plan to use where I can.

Do you (or anyone else for that matter)happen to know if the serpentine pulleys from my 6 accessories will work with the 360 and allow me to run a serpentine belt?

Good Luck

CJ Ben

Forgot to mention I am taking parts from my 82 CJ 6 and using them on an 82 Waggoneer engine. I'm not sure if this will make a diffeence.
