OT: Im peeved - snowplow crap

OK, well we have this '74 J10 we need to use for plowing snow. We have to plow snow for our family business shop lot, and our driveway. Well, we have a mount that we used on an '82 J10 (that we no longer have) last year. Rick thought it would fit on the '74... well, it doesn't BUT that doesn't pi$$ me off - that was an honest mistake.

What ticks me off is that there is a local (Butler) guy who advertises the following "wanted: used snow plows & salt spreaders, complete set or parts & pieces off any vehicle" OK, so we call this guy this morning (cause we know he obviously sells plows) and ask him if he has a mount for a '74 J10 - he say he does but will ONLY sell us a complete setups, mount, plow, power angle the whole kit and kaboodle.

All we need is the mount! He buys friggin parts & pieces, but won't sell them that way! The sector & blade etc. are universal to a bunch of frames! He could easily sell it with something else. But NO - he just wants to get the extra $$$$ off of people who get stuck! So SCREW HIM! I'll go out and buy another friggin truck, or CJ to mount the friggin thing on before we buy a whole unit off this a$$.

I realize that people have to make $$$, but he could easily make a few hundred bucks off us for the mount...

OK - thanks for listening, banging on the keyboard has helped. TGIF guys,

-Mel

Mel, Mel, Mel, Remember the <font color=yellow>Golden Rule</font color=yellow>... <font color=blue>"He that hath the gold makes the rule."</font color=blue> It's the same in business, he has the part and the power in the transaction.... a damn shame if you ask me, but a fact never the less. Too darn bad people just can't help one another and leave the profit out of it once in a while. Best of luck getting the parts.

It seems time for a little creative welding....

What parts do you need to mount it? I can try to call the local snowplow shops here if I know what plow you have and what parts you need. I think one or two of them deal with used parts.

Re: OT: Im peeved - snowplow crap

Yeah, and ya know what we just found out from Meyer - is that they stopped making that mount LAST YEAR! So we can't even buy it new.

Rick talked to a guy last night that had done some fab work to make his mount fit on his '78 J10 (which he sold LAST WEEK) and there was a lot involved. Not that it is beyond what Rick could do, just would take a lot of time - which is the thing we have the least of.... but it might just come to that.

Re: OT: Im peeved - snowplow crap

Rick,

Rick called "Forest Park" in Erie - no luck. What he need is the mount itself that attaches to the frame of the vehicle. For a '74 J10 - apparantly the frame changed in 1980.

So it would be for a '74-'79 J10 (or J20, or wagoneer)

He has the lights, sector, plow, power angle.

Feel free to call us at work here today 1-800-944-6128, just ask for Rick.

Forest Park is the main Meyer dealer up here. I tried four others and no one has any mounts. Sorry.

Mel,
Try these people. They have a Fisher frame for your J10. Maybe they can help - it's their business.

Donnie-
I hate to tell ya, but that old ideaology went out with Five & Dime stores...
Why? Because the customer is seldom "always" right.
And guess what? They don't get to make the rules either.
And why is that? Because there are always a few customers who are as dishonest as some businessmen.
In some cases, the customer can be unreasonable, unrealistic, selfishly obstinate or just plain old dumb.
Sad, but true ...

Re: OT: Im peeved - snowplow crap

Hey, Mel...
sorry, I can not help with the snowplow issue but I do agree that this guy is being unreasonable. I also share LEVE's sentiment regarding the need for businesses to focus on helping customers rather than making profit from customers.

Enough of that & all... thing I would really like to know is what ever became of the TBI issue you posted about a week or so back (if anything)... I searched a bit but didn't find any more information. I'm just curious about things like that... more fun facts to know & yell.
