Scout D44 knuckle

On the Scout D44 knuckles, the tie-rod and drag link holes are further forward than on the CJ D30. Has anyone used these knuckles in their swap? If so, how did you compensate for the different steering geometry? Would a Scout pitman arm work? Or would that cause more problems?

Re: Scout D44 knuckle

keep in mind that a scout spindle uses 8 studs vice the 6 studs that hold about every other spindle on the planet. i cut off the outer holes and used a waggoneer style steering set up.. it worked out good for my SOA. seems like it would be a lot easier to just use cj stuff all the way out.
a scout pitman arm is llllloooooooooong.... it would cause all kinds of problems

Re: Scout D44 knuckle

The only thing with my CJ outers is that they are the 11" drums. The Scout has the disc setup. I know I can do the Chevy/Ford/FSJ swaps with the outers, but I would like to keep it simple (cheap) if possible. I'll check into the Waggy style steering.

Re: Scout D44 knuckle

the waggy style steering setup will work well. the drag link connects to the tie rod and will correct your problem.
