Re: Diesel Liberty
I too am a die-hard Toyota fan. With almost 200,000 miles on my 3.0V6 1991 4Runner I'm looking at options. I have considered trying to find a diesel to swap in. I've also considered rebuilding the stock engine. But I want more torque. I run 32BFGM/T's with 4.56 gears and auto tranny and the engine is now too weak to stay in overdrive above 55mph. With the rising cost of fuel, 15mpg doesn't cut it when you drive 100-200 miles a week. What kind of aftermarket support is there for the Liberty? (bumpers, lockers, etc.) Even if I kept the truck mostly stock for now, a doubling of fuel economy would be great while still being able to mildly wheel offroad for camping, surf trips, etc.
