Re: methusela

Sorry it took so long to reply,I don't come here often.I was climbing a hill and going over these three rocks that were spaced so I had to put all four wheels on the top of them at once.Barely had enough clearance for the rockers so I was barely moving.Light throttle, just enough to get me up and when I let off to brake down the other side BANG-BANG-BANG,it was done.I knew at once what it was and invented some new cuss words that everyone within a mile heard. It split the diff at 12,9 and 6 o'clock. The 6 o'clock one is the one that laid it in half.I still have the diff as DCX wouldn't honor the 7Yr/100,000mile warranty that they harp on in the commercials. The diff housing has a oiling passage from the gear well to the pinion shaft to facilitate oiling the pinion bearings and this is where it's thinnest. It appears that is where it started.

Re: methusela

I'm wondering if this was the result of a bad casting and maybe corrected in later models....much like the early XJ D30 disconnect shift forks.

Afterall, the Liberty's IFS did get you on top of the rock......

Re: methusela

No, the KJ IFS just sucks, no if ands or butts about it. And of course they won't honor the warranty, read it, you did something that the warranty implicitly excludes coverage for, YOU TOOK IT OFF ROAD.
