AXLE SWAP
I'M PLANNING ON SWAPPING THE FRT 44 AND RR 60 FROM A 78-79 F250 TO MY 84 WAGGY. ANY SUGGESTIONS. WHAT TRANSFER DOES THIS TRUCK HAVE?

Re: AXLE SWAP
If the truck is part time 4x4 it will have the NP205(Very Strong,1.96:1 low). Stay away from full time 4x4, the T-case in those are the NP203, and they're worthless. Also don't go to the earlier Fords(77 and earlier)because the t-case is divorce mounted. Good Luck.

Re: AXLE SWAP
if you are going for super beef get a d60 front the ford d44 isn't that much stronger, you could probably sell both d44's for the price of a 60, some f350's came w/ rr d60 fronts which are as strong as they get, super beefe and almost unbreakable. What size tires are you planning on running? if 35's are the biggest w/ a mild motor a 44 might be alright if you take it easy but bigger than 35's i wouldn't risk it.

Re: AXLE SWAP
I'M PLANNING ON RUNNING 36 OR 37'S ON A HIGH MILD ENGINE. THE 44 PROBABLY WONT LAST LONG. I'VE GOT TWO FRONT D44'S. OEM VACCUM OPERATED FROM GW AND HUBED FROM A LATE 70'S F250. ANY ON INTERESTED IN SWAPPING FOR A FRT D60?

Re: AXLE SWAP
I think the d44 in front would be fine with 37's! Mine withstood TONS of abuse when I had the 35x14.5's on 14" wide rims with bead locks. There shouldn't be any prob at all unless you are an ARCA contender!!!
