Axle swap Need help

I have a 84 j10 and would like to swap the front and rear end out. Does anyone know what years will bolt up and if cherokee and wagoneer parts will work.I'm also looking for a lift kit if anyone has one forsale.

Re: Axle swap Need help

Dude, If you want to both lift the vehicle and swap axles what better time to just do a Spring over lift. Most any GM/Chevy years 73-87 axle will fit the spring width (double check though with which ones you find) and the spring perches are already on top of the fron axle. Obviously you will want to swap in a more durable axle so look for the 3/4 ton axles with 8 lugs.
I have done the SOA on my jeep. It would have made it a little easier on me to just find a good front Chev axle instead of having to weld the perches on top of my old D44.
You could even consider just keeping the original axles though. I did ( although my rear is a D44).
With a 6" blok in the rear you will have an even ride height and should be able to fit 35X12.50 tires.
I added 2" add-a-leafs to this for 8 total inches and cleared 35x14.50 tires on 14" Bart bead lock wheels with a little front fender trimming.
Good luck!
