towing with FSJ
I am interested in anyone's comments about towing a 24 ft tandem axle travel trailer with a 86 Grand Wagoneer with a 360 V8. The rig is properly equiped with equilizer hitch and trailer brakes. It tows fine behind my 3/4 ton suburban but is it too much trailer for the Wagoneer? Also, do most of you guys use unleaded or unleaded premium in your fsj?

Re: towing with FSJ
The wagoneer is an excellent tow vehicle and certainly as capable as the suburban if properly equipped. That includes the axle ratio. I would highly recommend getting a Reese equalizer with cam operated sway control... It is the one with the cams that raise the bars during a sway or turn.

Re: towing with FSJ
problem is the late 80s Gwags usually had either 2.72:1 or 3.31:1 gear ratios
neither really good for much towing ( especially the 2.72)...If you have really small tires, a good tranny cooler, and everything works right and your not pulling any large hills youll probably be alright..

If you have a neglected , or lock up style trans, no or small cooler, or big tires... GOOD LUCK with it!!..
