360 Rebuild

Where is a good place to find performance parts for the AMC 360? I am looking into replacing the engine in my '81 Wag, but I want to keep the engine in there while I build another one. I am looking for machined heads and cases specifically.

Thanks.

Re: 360 Rebuild

Where are you located? I'm in Northern Indiana and I have heads, blocks etc. If you want to buy stuff that if freshly machined- check with PAW. they are somewhere is california. They have freshly remanufactured blocks and heads. They have ads in all the car/ truck magazines. Performance automotive warehouse. their stuff is pricey- but I've always gotten good service from them. Luke

Re: 360 Rebuild

BEST PLACE TO GET INFO IS JEEP DEALER OR WEBSITE. GET INFO ON MOPAR PERFORMANCE PARTS AND LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR CHEAPER PARTS.

Re: 360 Rebuild

simple. find a 360 or 401 core, build it up using quality parts, have it balanced, have the heads rebuilt and ad a good intake and carb.

AMC engines breath REALLY well, you wont see muich gains from head work unless you regularly spin past 5000RPM, ad the wide distributer cap and an MSD ignition, and itll make about as much power as your likely to need.

change the gears in your truck from 2.72 to something closer to 4:1 and youll roast the tires with a six banger...

check out froadin.com website, good AMC info, also AMX files amc car buffs with lots of amc engine info.

not alot of stuff available for these engines thats really buck=performance in the daily driver type scenario.

basic stuff, built right, balanced, and a good ignitiotion is about as good of a sub $2500 AMC engine as you can get.
