T-18 4 speed Probs

OK.... I have a T-18 and the shifter is all sorts of jacked. I can't find any gears and it's now stuck in Reverse. Any ideas?

remove the top cover and see if the littel white plastic pads are broken or missing, replace them if they are.

re alighn the forks onto the sliding couplers in the tranny.

possibly the bottom of the shifter is worn, where it engages the forks.

Often during the course of trying to solve 1 problem you create others. I have more than a couple of the T-18's have similar problems. One thing to look at is sometimes while trying to loosen or free up the shifter it can get "out of place". There are 3 shift rods and the bottom of the stick rides in the center, however it can get outside of the area that it is intended to be in. Solution; remove the stick check for the alignment of the shift rods, alter or move them if necessary(with a large flat head screwdriver) and then reinstall the stick.

This happened to me in my dads truck, all that happened was the screw-on cap that holds the shifter in came off and the shifter fell out.
