DONT BOTHER LOOKING! (MID SIZE QUESTION)

Hi, I'm looking at getting a 97 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 A/T. The color is white with black trim. I'm going to see it tomorrow but have never looked at Jeeps before. Do you have any advice for me with this year/model truck. A friend of a friend is works at a dealership and can buy this trade in from another dealership for just over $9000. My price would be $9700 I think? I don't know all the options but at this point I need to know what to ask about. Is there something that typically needs to be done with these like a timing belt change? Oh yeah, I almost forgot, it has approximately 78,000 miles. I'm told the original owner who traded it in was a real estate agent who drove people around in it. Probably never had it in 4WD much. Oh yeah it's from the Seattle, WA area.
Thanks for any help. I'm normally on the Toy board.

The Jeepster Forum on this site is very active. For full size Jeeps, try www.ifsja.org. I have seven J trucks and that site is very active.

what a dip****, come to the WRONG forum this is FULLSIZED Jeeps, not MIDSIZED JEEPS.

screw your head on straight, quit your whining, and ask a specific question to the proper group and maybe you wont be ignored.

That still doesn't change the fact that all of the threads combined totalled a whopping 1 post in a 24 hour period. Whew, I don't
even own the Cherokee yet, how am I supposed to know what category it should be in. It would have been nice if within a 24 hour
period 1 person would have had the courtesy to let me know I posted to the wrong forum. Thanks Full Size Jeep guys! I hope the
Mid-size jeep guys are better.

goto kbb.com check the trade in value for the truck, print it out and take it with you so that you can compare options and such ( put in all you know about with mileage to get a good comparable value)

the 4.0 engine is great it will easily go 200K miles with regular service, the tranny is also a good unit, but its pretty light duty.

thats the ONE thing Id look at closely, the TRANNY

smell/check the tranny fluid, and if the rig has ever done any towing ( look at teh bumper for signs of a ball, or inside the recievr for scrapes and such) might be worth having a tranny shop check it out.
