Thank you and Help!

Thank you to those who responded to my questions about my locker install. It was finally successful!
I have some new questions.
They deal with the EGR system in my 78 Cherokee with 401 motor.
Where are the vacuum dump valve and the "TVS" located?
I didn't even know what they look like and the Haynes doesn't show it. Also,
The book shows something hooked up to both ports of the Coolant Temperature Override switch. I don't see anything hooked to my lower port. Where does it go? I have removed the original air cleaner when I installed a new Holley. I know use a K&N with just chrome covers due to clearance issues. Could this have something to do with it? I am having issues with extreme "pinging" under throttle at speed. I have eliminated low octane, and timing. I was told to check the EGR system. I replaced the EGR valve. I can't find where to purchase the delay valves. Any ideas or other suggestions?
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Thank you and Help!

I bought a delay valve in the mid 90s for my 80 cherokee with a 380, it was $14 from teh dealership

you could probably have the distributer recurved or play with the springs in the mech advance to maybe stop the ping

Thanks, Ozark! I'll try the dealer. I have vacuum advance on the distributor ( the dist. is brand new) Can this be adjusted?

Re: Thank you and Help!

I dont think the vac adv is adjustable, but the mech ( centrifugal) advance is im pretty sure.

ive always been told that teh egr is a good system, not a "power robbing" emissions deal, its better to have a funtioning EGR than to spend time/money to bypass it, supposedly it loweres combustion temps and reduces ping, I dont know true or not, but its what ive been told alot of times
