What years for 727 TF tranny?

I'm converting my postal to 4x4 but am having some trouble figuring out how I'm gonna bolt the txfer case to the tranny. I know that some J trucks came with the 727, do any of you know when? If I could keep this tranny it would be nice (read that cheap) but I'm kind've stuck right now. Thanks for your help.

Re: What years for 727 TF tranny?

You can use any J-10 or J-20 from 1980-newer. And you can use any Wagoneer from 1980-newer. Those that had an Automatic and V8 will have the TF-727 and have the same tailshaft spline count as a Dana 300 transfer case as well as the same adapter for the Dana 300.
