Need info on swapping spring over axles
I need some help on swapping the spring over my axles on my 85 Grand Wagon. I have emailed the tech, and they said it could be done.
But they left out, how to do it exactly. The only problem that I am having with it, is the front drivers side. The spring is located on the side of the pumpkin, and I dont know how to mount the saddle on the top of the pumpkin. Thanks for any help you can shed on this. |
Re: Need info on swapping spring over axles
ur just gonna have to weld a nu spring pad to the top of the casting. this is how it was done to mine.

Re: Need info on swapping spring over axles
Been there... done that on my 78 Waggie...
Just mount a new perch to the cast housing...ensuring you keep the other side the same height....by grinding down the cast or building up the other side. Remember, to weld steel to cast, you should use a Nickel rod (arc) or flux core MIG. the Nickel is the better way to go but you have to heat up the cast prior to welding. 78 Wagoneer http://home.earthlink.net/~riverbeast/rbthnl.jpg 14" total lift 4.89's/Lockers/39.5" Swampers http:// http://home.earthlink.net/~tjnkk |

Re: Need info on swapping spring over axles
Steering is great...BTW it's just a Wag not a G/W.... I did the high steering cross-over utilizing a pre-76 GM flattop pass side knuckle with a BDS 3" spacer and new steering arm from http://www.partsmike.net
You can see all the pics of the steering here... http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...a=12142173&f=0 78 Wagoneer http://home.earthlink.net/~riverbeast/rbthnl.jpg 14" total lift 4.89's/Lockers/39.5" Swampers http://home.earthlink.net/~tjnkk |
