I know alot of jeeps had an AMC V8 mated to a GM TH400 trans... that being said a 700R4 or 4L60E (they have the same bolt pattern as a TH400) should bolt up... A GM 2004R trans has the same bolt pattern and a higher overdrive ratio (numerically lower) than any other GM trans, but this trans is not well known for its strength. I hope this info helps.....

The AMC TH400 had a different bolt pattern than the 700R4, or any other GM transmission. The Chevy trannies will not bolt up without an adapter. Look at Novak Jeep Conversions - Home for good swap info.
