FSJ Questions

Hi everyone,

I have a '96 Cherokee that I am trying to sell to buy a full size Jeep. I have found an '84 Wagoneer but it says in the add that it is a 2 wheel drive. Did they make a 2wd version of these? Also I have found a '77 4dr Cherokee for $440 on a small dealer's lot that may either need a new timing chain or timing adjustment. They think that the timing chain broke or jumped a tooth. Body is in fairly decent shape. How does this sound?

I am in the Albuquerque area, so if you know anyone looking for a little cherokee let me know.

Thanks in advance.

That's a little cherokee. They had a wagoneer package and name but they are the little ones like the one you already have. As for the one for $440, figure if the body is worth putting up to $1000 into if it comes to needing a total engine overhaul. If it still is, then go for it.

Re: FSJ Questions

I've never heard of nor seen a full size 2WD Wagoneer. They did make some with the 6 cylinder instead of the 360. The $440 sounds pretty good to me. Unless it's totally trashed, you can't go wrong.

Re: FSJ Questions

The Cherokee/Wagoneer XJs were available in both 2WD and 4WD. Haven't seen a 2WD XJ personally, but I know they were made. The '84 Wagoneer IS an XJ. The '77 Cherokee is an SJ. For $440, I'd say its more than worth it.
