Wagoneer Restoration?

Hey all, I'm from the mid wheel base, I drive an 86 Jeep Cherokee XJ. But I really love those Grand Wagoneers, they all fricken cool. Problem is in Michigan the roads get so damn salty in the winter our vehicles rust out fast. I want a Wagoneer but all I figure I would find here are fixer uppers which mean a lot of body work and paint. But my main question, can you buy new Woodgrain decals? I just love the woodgrain on the sides, I dig that stuff. It would be a shame not to have the classic look. Any of you know where I could find such a product? Thanks a lot.

Check with an auto body shop, preferably one that deals with accident/collision damage a lot ! They should have some, or be able to steer you in the right direction to a company that does.
By the way, '86 XJs had a Wagoneer with woodgrain decals also.

Re: Wagoneer Restoration?

I found a website that has the woodgrain precut and grain matched http://www.grandwagoneers.com/docs/parts.html he also carries other hard to find parts.

Re: Wagoneer Restoration?

The Jeep stealership can still order them. They are around $60 a section. I had to do this about 2 years ago when I did some damage to a fender.

Regarding the restoration, my advice is that you go with a solid rust-free car. It would be worth your while to even go out of state to find one, if necessary. Check Ebay.
