X-fer Ques - showing ignorance tonight

I have an 86 J-20 with a 208 transfer case, the front axle has hubs, and the shifter on floor for the Xfer shows 2wh 4wh N 4wl so is this still a Quadra-Trac like my 83 with a 229 ?

or not

Re: X-fer Ques - showing ignorance tonight

My books show the NP208 was used at the same time(s) the NP 219, and later the NP229, were used in the FSJs from 1980-83. The NP219 was dropped in 1983, apparently in favor of the NP229. So, I think the NP208 was the part-time "Command-Trac" t-case. In other words, I wouldn't use it on the pavement unless you wanna break it(unless its really icy).

By the way, the Quadra-Trac I was used from 1973-79. The 229 is simply known as "full-time". (Or as "piece-of-S***" to those of us unlucky enough to have owned one, or two in my case!!) The 228 is much better. Doesn't break as easy, and is rebuildable. (A Dana 20 is even better, but nuff said.)
