20 spline axle parts stores say it cant be

We have a 1966 J-2000 P/U (Gladiator) with the spider gears wore out. The tag on the back said Dana 44 4.09 (10 bolt) The tooth count is 45-11 But the problem is that the axle has 20 splines. All the parts stores tell us that it can only have 19 (I painted them as I counted and there is 20). Can any one tell us more about what it may be and where we can find the gears or what we might put under to replace the this axle. I most get it running my wife loves the pickup!! Please help. I have an '88 Grand Wagoneer with a Dana 44 in the rear. The spider gears are also worn. Did you replace the gears yourself and if so, do you have any helpful tips for me?

Get the number off the axle tube and look it up in the previous post I made. Axle info It'll tell you what axle you have so you're sure.
