Recommend a Wagoneer?

I am a Wrangler owner (and love it) and am looking for a family vehicle with four doors. Can anyone tell me what kind of mileage, cost of parts, bad years to watch out for, problems you've had etc.? I would appreciate it.

Re: Recommend a Wagoneer?

I too am a wrangler owner, and I have an 88 Grand Wag as a winter Rig. My YJ has 33" Swampers on it, and it doesn't like the snow much. (of course I am having a vac problem with my Xcase in my wagg and only have 2wd, but at least I have snow tires on it.) I really like the GW a lot. I like the 360, if feels like driving a tractor there is so much torque. But it comes at a cost. I only get about 8 miles per gallon. I know thats low, and I am working on that, but if you get 10-12 you are doing pretty well. The biggest problem I can think of is vac leaks. I have them everywhere. And if you go and look at one to buy, check the heat, and the blower motor. They were never very strong, and get worse as they get older. A new motor is only about 50-60 green backs. But if you call the owner on not having heat, they may drop the price for you more than 50. All and all I like the GW a LOT. It is like owning a small piece of history
