Better Idle

I installed a; Distributor Cap, Adapter Base, Rotor, and 8mm Spark Plug wires, from a 1984 Ford F350 460 with ECC. My 84 Wagoneer Idles 10 times better now. As soon as the weather clears up I am also installing the TFI Ignition, I just have to adapt it for AMC. Has any one else tried this? If so how did it work out for you?

Re: Better Idle

A buddy and I adapted the TFI Ignition with two 4" "L" brackets from Lowes. We bolted it to the firewall next to the battery. We had to extend the ignition Pos and Neg wires about 5" to get them to fit. I canít believe the power difference between the two ignition systems.

Re: Better Idle

I did the same thing about 9 months ago. Just this past weekend I added a MSD 6a module. Its even better. I used to have some intermittant missing and stumbling at idle. I think it may have been due to a partially failing stock ignition module.
All gone with the MSD. Idles so smooth that my father asked me if I had installed EFI on it.
