Re: engine fires....

I don't have an answer to your question but i have had experience with a fire in my waggie. The power steering pressure line burst while turning around and all of the hot fluid sprayed onto the exhaust manifold. Flames came flying out from the left front fender and up past my arm with the window down. We finally put it out with a pepsi cola and luckily the only thing that was hurt from the flames was the pressure hose that had burst. Sorry if the reply was O/T but I thought i'd share my fire experience in the waggie

have had 13 jeeps 5 of which have caught fire either electrical or fuel related. always add fire to your policy that way you can buy a new one or fix the old one

Re: engine fires....

If the fire is coming out of the Carb, then you might have the timing advanced to much, other than that I'd check all your grounds and stuff to make sure you're not getting a short somewhere. That's just my $0.02

Re: engine fires....

Ever since that incident with the powersteering line I've had an extinguisher within arms reach in both the AMC and my pickup.
