Waggy 44 advice/help

Hey yall, im a short wheel base guy but i need some help. I found a good deal on a set of waggy 44s from sometime in the 80's the guy is not sure, but my question is on the front. He doesnt know if its vacum or not and hes alittle far of a drive to just go see. I was wondering what years were the vacums option/or stadard and if it is a vacum can i switch over to locking hubs or what can i do? Also was there a model offered like the tj dana 30 that just had automatic hubs but without a vacum so all that i would have to do is change out the hubs?
thanks for any imput

Re: Waggy 44 advice/help

1983 and 1984 were the years for the vacuum disconect axle. It can be permenantly engaged and locking hubs installed with no problem. I don't know of any D44 that came factory with locking hubs, most after 1974 were full time four wheel drive of one kind or another, if it was a 208 I think it still ran solid hubs. This is for the wags and grand wags, some of the heavier jtrucks may be different.
