I used a D44 out of a 84 Waggy in my project Trooper and was wandering if any one ha sput a solid axel shaft in and installed locking hubs to do away with the axel disconnect.Its a six lug w/ the disconnect built into the diff cover. Any thoughts?
I've never checked, but I would think the axle disconnect is part of the diff, not just the cover. If so, you might be able to replace the diff assembly and the cover and have solid axles. It would be a full-time axle, though. I'm not sure about the hubs.
