J10 tank fix

Well, I have searched the country for a replacement tank that will fit my 81 J10 to no avail. (81-90)J10 tank will fit. I'm forced to think about trying some kind of epoxy and fix the one I have. I hate to do that since the crack is a good eight inches on top of the tank. Anyone tried it before and had any success? I'm not real big on dripping fuel all over and blowing my truck up.

Re: J10 tank fix

Dear Fellow FSJeeper, I had the same problem and couldn't get any good advice. Don't bother to remove tank for repairs, instead do only to put a new one from MTS Company-www.mtscompany.com or call 1-800-522-1622, the owner will answer and help you on how to change a simple sending unit so a new poly tank he sells will work. I have a 81 Honcho short bed,401c.i. t.f.727,np208,44's DC'sFC on 12x15 eagles,CAMO paint job. BorderBandit over and out good Buddy!!!

Re: J10 tank fix

i TOO HAVE THE MTS POLY TANK FOR MY 79 CHEROKEE IT IS GREAT AND SOLVED MANY CARB REBUILDS. BOLT UP WAS A SNAP, THE PROBLEM I HAD THOUGH WAS THE TANK GAS FILLER HOSE WAS NO LONGER DEALER CARRIED AND ENDED GOING TO A CHEMICAL INDUSTRIAL HOSE SUPPLY HOUSE TO GET A HOSE THAT WORKED AND THAT IS RATED FOR FUEL, I THINK MINE IS EVEN RATED FOR NUCLEAR WASTE! ONE OTHER THING THE INLET TO THE MTS TANK IS SMALLER THAN THE STOCK STEEL TANK (ON MINE ANY WAY)SO FILLING THE TANK GOES SLOWER AND IF THE PUMP HAS THE EMISSIONS BOOTS I HAVE A HELL OF A TIME.... BUT THE OLD GAS STATIONS ARE GREAT! GOOD LUCK! HAPPY JEEPING
