engine swop
I am thinking of swoping my 258 for a 360. Will it bolt right up? I have an 80 J10 with 4 speed(176 or 18) and 208 tc. Thanks Dennis

Re: engine swop
you will need a facotry V8 Engine mount ( for only the passenger side the other will work with both blocks) or you can modfy the 6 cyl mount to work, I tihnk you just make thoe holes into ovals instead of round.
also youll likely need the larger radiator unless yours already has the heavy duty rad. youll also nee ot relocate or possibly replace the throttle cable, and reroute the fuel line. youll need a flywheel from a 360 , the 6 cyl wont work ( it will but not for long). and you have a T176 if its factory. the T18 wasnt offered in half tons afer 79, the Tremac176 is probably up to teh 360s power if you dont have large tires, or get silly with teh skinny pedal. |
