304 balancing

do i need to have my rotating assembly balanced when i put the flywheel off my 258 onto a 304?

I'm not even sure you can swap the flywheels. It is a debatable topic whether the flywheels on V8's are swappable among each other being that AMC's are externally balanced. I would check out if anyone on the SWB board has done it before trying it out or talk to a good engine buider to see if they can do it.

You would probably save yourself a bit of $$ just getting a new or used flywheel (or flexplate if you are putting on an auto tranny) rather than have the 258 flywheel made to work.
