Need some help with a 80 cherokee

I have a 1980 cherokee parts rig. It is an auto tranny with the 360.

I would like to mate this 360 with a T18 and swap it into my CJ. I have heard that some 360 do not have a crank that is drilled for a pilot bearing? Is my 360 drilled? I would rather not pull the engine to find that it is not?

Re: Need some help with a 80 cherokee

I had a 1980 Cherokee wide track, 360 auto tranny, I drove it for years, when it got rusty I pulled the engine ( freshly rebuilt) and sold the truck, and bought a CJ5.

MY 360 was drilled for a pilot, ive heard some arent the only wya to be SURE would be to open it and see.

BUT at least one 1980 360 out there was drilled!

My '77 was drilled too, but I'm not sure about my '85, I know the torque converters are different between the TF727 and TH400 and that to swap between the two we had to remove a bushing from the '77s motor.
