tailgate window

Well, It happened!!! I have seen many posts about the tailgate. Now I have problems. The track that holds the window is actually bent on one end. Any suggestions?

Re: tailgate window

I assume you mean the track that the window sits in at the bottom of the glass as opposed to the trackes on either side. If so, I fixed this just last week. I completely removed the track, if it is not already, and cleaned out any loose rubber and dirt and anything else that is in there. I then filled it with epoxy and put the glass back in making sure it is aligned correctly. In my case, part of the track was completely rusted through so I actually rebuilt part of the track with the epoxy. I then caulked all the way around so that water running down the glass would not get caught in the track and rust it out again. I reinstalled the window and it works preferctly. Only been a week but I think it will last a while.

Re: tailgate window

I found that a cheap way of reinstalling a tailgate window in the channel if the rubber is history is to use a bike innertube. Cut it to roll it out and cut it lenghtwise to make a long sheet of rubber. Sandwich it between the glass and channel, a little wd-40 will help, and trim off the excess. Mine has lasted for at least 9 years this way.
