Rear Shackle reversal

Is there a way to reverse the upside down shackles in a Cherokee? I have a 77 Chief.. 4 inch lift, need more to clear tires. Anyone have experience with this

Re: Rear Shackle reversal

I have a 1981 J10, I had to cut the rear shackle hanger loose from the frame, rotate it and reweld it back on with the shackle hanging down.

Re: Rear Shackle reversal

Did this cause any adverse effects? How much lift did this change give you. I currently have 3 inch blocks and an add a leaf. I'm hoping the reversal would give me about 6 or so inches of lift, allowing me to get rid of the blocks.

Anything else I should know about doing this other than cut and flip?

thanks,

Michael

Re: Rear Shackle reversal

It gives aprox 3" of lift and...tilts the pinion up about 3 degrees for a better drive shaft angle
