Waggie axles

I'm looking to swap waggie axles in to my CJ7. I have a detroit locker in my AMC 20 now and I want to keep it. I was wondering if I can find a waggie with a AMC 20 HD and a Dana 44 front. Is this a common configuration and what years came like that.

Thanks Steve

Re: Waggie axles

1980 and newer, the problem is the front axle's differential is on teh drivers side.

so youll need a rear from a 80 or newer wagoneer, and a front from a 75-79 wagoneer ( passenger side front diff), if you get 1976 front Dana 44 it already has flat topped knuckles.
or you could swap your transfercase out to the driverside output ( ala YJ) but..the dana 300 is better.

Re: Waggie axles

Does the wagoneer AMC 20HD have the same spline count as the CJ AMC 20? I don't want to loose my locker. And what rear axle does the 75 - 79 wagoneer come with??

Re: Waggie axles

Hd amc20 is same carrier as Jc M20 so the inards will swap, the 74-79 wags had D44 rears, but most werent centered rear diffs, most were Th400+qtrack, and offset rear axle.

Re: Waggie axles

I think your a little too far away. The shipping cost will be as much as the axle.

Thanks anyways
