Check engine light on a 97 Rodeo

My 1997 Isuzu Rodeo just rolled over 73,000 and the check engine light came on and there are no symptoms that indicate that anything is wrong. I think this is just the miles at which the light is programmed to come on so the dealer can make some bucks by turning it off. Is there a switch somewhere that I can use to turn off the check engine light or am I stuck with letting the dealer hook up the diagnostic computer???

You can disconnect the battery at both terminals, then touch the two cable ends together. This resets the computer if it were tripped for a diagnostic reason. If there's a problem, it will trip the light again.
