What did IH run behund the 727 autos? I thought the D300 was used in some. I don't know what my '80 IH 1210 with 258 6 cyl 5 speed had in it (wasn't into that stuff back then)

Re: transfercases

72/73 --> '79 they used the 727/D20
80 they used the D300.

you can also convert any of the 727s to use the Jeep 300 with the right assortment of Dodge/Jeep parts..

Re: transfercases

Thanks guys! I thought I was going crazy for a bit! I know the 727 in all fullsize Jeeps ('80 to pre '84 Cherokee and wagoneer, and '84 to '91 Grand Wagoneer plus '80 up J trucks) has 23 spline like the '80 IH pickup I had. Some Jeep list guys told me the IH only had Dana 20s! Also, with the output shaft from a SJ Jeep 727, you can run NP series transfercases from the '80 up fullsize SJs and '84 to '86 XJ and MJ Jeeps (they usually use 904 trannies though the transfercase from the 4 and V6 is 23 spline till the 4.0L came out. They were 21 spline '87 to late '90 and 23 spline again after 09/90), but they are lefthand drop front driveshaft.
Hope my info helps someone else!
