1200A Pickup Questions
I found an IH 1200A 4x4 Pickup sitting in a field. I was only able to look at it briefly, and I have not approached the owner about it yet. I wanted to do some research on it first.
From what I saw, it has a Dana 44 front axle, and I think a Dana 60 rear. It has 8-lug wheels. It has a winch on the front that is driven by a small driveshaft coming from the engine compartment. And it has a manual trans. Oh yeah, it has an emblem that says "all wheel drive" on the front fenders below the "1200A".
I could not find any info about this truck on the Internet, other than that the "A" in the 1200A model designation probably means it's a 1966, and that "1200" means it's a 3/4 ton.
What are the engine options in these trucks? What type of transfer case do they have? How about axle gearing, and possible factory limited-slip or locker?
I read that the trans might be a T-98.
I have a mostly GM background, so I could use some help with this one! Anyone know anything about these trucks?
