Scout tie rod wanted

Looking for a knuckle to knuckle tie rod (stock) for a 72-80 ScoutII. My understanding is that they are all the same. If I am wrong, or if you know of other ones that are identical, please let me know. I am in Charlotte, NC and will pay shipping as long as you don't gouge me on the price.

Hey Mangler are You looking for the tie-rod that has the permanently attached ends? If so you need a Moog DS-834
about 75-90 dollars depending on where You try.
Good luck bert

Re: Scout tie rod wanted

I don't think they are permanently attached. I may have the terminology incorrect, but I'm looking for the tube that goes from steering knuckle to steering knuckle with threaded tie rod ends at either end which I believe are both right hand threaded. Mine caught a rock and bowed outwards causing my tires to toe in.

Really, I only NEED the tube itself, because I could probably re-use the tie rod ends. I checked a couple junk yards and they don't have any Scouts there. Need to find another one.

My understanding is that the drag link connects the pitman arm to the steering knuckle and the tie rod connects knuckle to knuckle. Am I right?

Re: Scout tie rod wanted

I ran over to NAPA and checked out that part number you gave me. It is a good part number, but it is not the part I need. According to their parts book, that part is a drag link, and what I need is a tie rod.

Thanks anyway!

Re: Scout tie rod wanted

http://www.GryphinRacing.com has super-duty tie-rods for $150-ish. 1" DOM and replaceable ends.

The stock tie-rod is pretty weak if you wheel it. BTDT.

Re: Scout tie rod wanted

I'll look into that. My 35's made pretty quick work of the stock one. THanks!
