IH Front & Rearend

I just got a 1980 and a 1978 Scout II. How do I find out what kind of a front end and rear end are on these vehicles ? Where is that information ? Thanks to all who help this crazy old man.

Re: IH Front & Rearend

You have dana 44s front and rear on both Scouts. You can verify this by looking on the cast webbing on the sides of the cover for a big 44. There might be a tag on your diffs which will tell you your gear ratio but after 20+ years it may have disappeared. If it's gone you'll have to jack up the rear of the truck and turn the driveshaft. Hope this helps.
