playing with a '63 Scout (looking for upgrades)

So far, the DSPO swapped out the OEM slant 4 for a Ford 250 and C4 (did a Mickey Mouse job on the swap too! We'll get that fixed soon) The teeny tiny D27 axles look like they will break if we look sideways at them and the 9" drum brakes are scary to drive! (especially since the PO "upgraded" the master cyl from the single servo 7/8" to a dual servo 1" bore with manual brakes!)
I figure from looking at this rig that maybe CJ7 axles should work? (CJ5 and DJ5 narrow track won't work for sure) It's already SOA and we've been tracking down the scariest issues to make it road worthy in the long term.
It was good to find one of these that isn't totally rotted out!
