I am re-doing the brakes on a 1980 Traveler. The drums in the back went smoothly but I'm having some difficulty with the front brakes. I have the caliper off and have started disassembling the locking hubs to get to the rotors but am stuck at the locknut with the 3 allen screws in it. Does anyone have an idea how to remove this?
Thanks in advance,
---The Drag Nut has three set screws hidden amongst the five holes. Two of the holes are blind holes where you either use a chisel, punch or a spanner wrench to turn. The threads are left handed, and the nut should only be on with a maximum of 45 lb ft. Thread out all three set screws and tap the nut using either the punch or the chisel, or turn the nut using a spanner wrench.
---I'll be back soon to see if there's any new developments.
I'm going to be working on the truck this weekend.....Thank you for the info I had no idea the nut was threaded....I will have to get the stripped allen screw out but will tackle that this weekend and post my results....
Thanks again I appreciate the info.
