Differential compatibility

Hi all,

My '78 Scout II has taken a turn for the worse, as the differential is thrashed. I have done a search on a diff. for a scout, and only got two hits on it both for well over $1000.

Anyone know of another diff/rear-end that is compatible with a '78 scout II? Any suggestions on where to look? I live the SF bay area.

Re: Differential compatibility

when you say diff/rearend, I am guessing that you mean just the carrier, or the ring and pinion?
It this is the case, you can get new R&P and or carriers, either limited slip or lockers, at Randy's R&P

If you have a stock Scout II, then you need parts for a Dana 44. Just make sure that they know it is for a Scout II D44 because the axle shafts are a certain length, but that's only if you need axle shafts.
