Re: ignition

Try finding a scout 2 electronic ignition...that would be a better upgrade.

Re: ignition

Going with a Pertronix would probably be the best way. I believe it costs about $80. It's a magnetic pickup that takes the place of the points to convert it to electronic ign.

Re: ignition

Hi, I had the newer stock electronic ignition inside the distributor. One day it started to get go bad. The engine would stall and would take a few minutes to restart. Anyway, I replaced the electronic ignition with the Pertronix Ignitor Electronic Ignition. I can't beleive how small this thing is and it works GREAT!!! It installed in about a half hour. All ignition problems were gone!!!! And at a cost of around $85 dollars it was WELL worth it!!!
Good Luck,

Re: ignition

A word of advice: Dont go off and leave the ignition on without it running. My friend had one of those in his scout. He was working on it cause it wouldnt start. He went to eat lunch and left the key on, when he came back it was fried.
