Carb for Scout II
Hey folks. I kinda inherited a '77 Scout II but the carb is missing. I need to get another one but don't know where to start. I can't figure out what size engine is has nor can I find any kind of engine I. D. plate to help determine displacement. Can anybody help?

Re: Carb for Scout II
First, the engine size is stamped into a flat spot on the engine block about 1" square on the passenger side in
the area of the fuel pump and the passenger side engine mount. If it's a v8, it's either a 304 or a 345. If it's a 4 cylinder, it's a 196 (I don't think Scouts were still offered with the I-6 in '77, but if so it's an AMC 258). Most of the V8s came with a holley 2bbl - usually a 2210C, but some were the 2300. These have a common bolt pattern - the same as the Ford Motorcraft 2bbls that came on many Fords, Jeeps, etc. Later, they started to get the Carter Thermoquad spread-bore 4bbl. Later, Curt |
