2wd into 4wd

I just bought ny second scout this week, a 1972 2wd Scout II with the straight six and auto tranny. Only has 49000 original miles on it, and has the original IH Powerthrift Six decal on the air breather. It is also right hand drive! Makes for some interesting driving! I have an extra 727 with Dana 20 t-case and was wondering how hard it would be to change it into a 4wd. Any ideas or comments? BTW the body is cancer free!

Scout, anything else is just a car.

Re: 2wd into 4wd

We just used a 74 scout front axle and a 4wd 727 d/20 to do this in my buddys 76 2wd Auto. We didn't have to change the tranny. The D/20 bolted up to the rear of the 2wd after removing the rear housing. It pretty much bolted in axle and Tcase. If you have specific questions let me know.
