Timing Gear Question

I have a '73 Scout II with a 345 that is not currently running. After tracking down several other possiblities I discovered that the distributer rotor was not turning at all when the engine was cranked. After removal and inspection it seems that the distributer is in excellent condition. The only other thing I can think of that may be broken is the timing gear. However, before I invest the time and expense, are there any other ideas?

Re: Timing Gear Question

You could check the timing gear by just pulling off a valve cover to see if the rockers are moving - might
be easier than pulling the timing cover.

Later,
Curt
