1965 Scout 800

I am considering buying the above year Scout as a project vehicle. My questionis how many people out there have these vehicles? Could you give a little input, be it good or bad in regards to feasability of Scout of this year in decent shape? Has any one heard of any lifts made for this year vehicle, it doesn't have to be that big, thanks for your time....

Re: 1965 Scout 800

The 800 are great old vehicles and you can't drive them anywhere without someone asking you about them. Parts are a little tricky to find sometimes but they are tough as nails. If you are building it for the trail keep in mind the swaps you will have to make for powersteering and disk brakes if you so desire. You can get new springs from SuperScout Specialists which will give you about 3 inches. As it sits stock, you will only be able to put 30X9.5X15 tires on it unless you trim the fenderwells. I would recommend checking out the vehicle and see what it needs to be road worthy then calling some of the venders to see about parts availability. Good Luck

Re: 1965 Scout 800

I have a 66 800 and I wouldn't trade it for anything I use it daily for work. I drag logs out of the woods tow. It's just a great little truck. I am currently modifying a frame for reverse shackle and going with dana 44's with a lift. There seems to be a decent availabilty of parts out there so far.
