Holley 2-barrel

I've got a 75'Scout w/345 Auto thats been sitting for about 8 years. I got it to start and run by a new battery and starter and pouring some gas in the tank. I also poured some fuel into the Carb. I repeat the Carb. "priming" intil it warms up and runs on its own. I tried to run it the other day by Priming the Carb. as usual. No luck. No spark,no rumble, nothing. The engine has juice and the starter rolled over but nothing as far as a "pop" or "spark" . Is my Carb. the problem. Is it worn out and trashed up from sitting so long? Help..

Re: Holley 2-barrel

I took my lawn mower in to be repaired the other day(No, it doesn't have a 345). The carb was all gummed up. I also just had my 78 Traveler rebuilt. On talking to a local IH repairman (C&W Auto-PHX), he said the same thing the mower repairman said; the gas is not trustworthy after a few months. I drained as much out of my Scout as a could, and filled it back up with ten gallons. The upshot is that it seems that you need to rebuild your carb, and get rid of as much of the bad gas as you can. We also ran the fuel pump for a little while with the ignition wires pulled off tp run the old gas out of the lines. It now runs great.Bob K PHX
