Carburators

I was wondering what model of 2 barrel carburator works well with the scout 2 on a 345 engine. I have tried two carburators of the same model and both have failed on me. If you could tell me what carb you have on yours and how well it has done in the hills it would be helpful.

Re: Carburators

I recently purchased a 75' Scout with a 345. It has not been on the road for 8 years. I poured some gas in the carb. and some gas in the tank and it started right up. The carb. was gummed up so I sprayed some Napa carb. cleaner in it and it really cleaned up. The carb. really works well for me. So far so good. It is a Holley 2-barrel. It's the Stock model carb. that came on the 345's for 1975. I'm looking in the Scout Service Manual(purchased from Super Scout Specialist) right now to find a model number. The best I can figure it is model number 2300G. Hope this helps. Good luck..

Re: Carburators

Im running the stock 2-barrel Holley on my 75' Scout with a 345. So far I have had no troubles. Considering that the Scout had not been running for about 8 years when I bought it. I simply sprayed some Napa carb. cleaner in it and poured some fuel in her and she fired right up. I've run her threw some holes and snow and the carb is doing great. After looking in my Scout service manual(purchased from Super Scout Specialist) I believe the model number is a 2300g.
