timing question

I have to time my 345 engine. With my #1 cylinder at TDC where should the rotor point? The #1 cylinder should be TDC on the compression stroke right? And finally, if I recall the large valves are intake right? Thanks!

Re: timing question

Jake, the IH V345 is timed on cylinder # 8. Set up should work if using any other cylinder at TDC and rotor pointing to the proper pole of the cap.
Yes, the large valves are the intake valves.
